At Envision Optometry, we understand that many of our patients have both vision and medical insurance, which serve different purposes and cover distinct types of services. Vision insurance typically covers routine eye exams, prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses, and evaluations for overall eye health in patients without specific symptoms or medical concerns. On the other hand, medical insurance is designed to address medical conditions affecting the eyes, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections (like pink eye), dry eyes, cataracts, or allergies. When a medical diagnosis or condition arises, claims are filed through your medical insurance, and applicable copays and deductibles will apply. Vision insurance does not cover these medical-related issues.
Because it is not always possible to determine in advance which insurance will apply to your visit, we work hard to participate in as many medical and vision insurance panels as possible. If we accept your insurance, we will file claims on your behalf. If not, we provide an itemized receipt so you can file a claim for potential reimbursement. Please ensure you provide us with accurate insurance information, as any discrepancies will result in the responsibility for accrued expenses falling to you. If you have questions, our team is happy to assist you.
