Meet Dr. John C. Brown DR BROWN reduced copy

Dr. Brown takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

After majoring in Chemistry at the University of California at San Diego, Dr. Brown received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry in 1981.

Upon graduation, John moved to Auburn, California, in the middle of the “Gold Country” of the Sierra Foothills. There, Dr. Brown created Sierra Optometry Center in 1982. After ten years of successful practice, John took a four-year sabbatical in order to spend time with his family, travel and ultimately relocate to a more metropolitan area.

John chose to reside in the Puget Sound area because of the lifestyle and educational opportunities it afforded his son. He felt the Eastside area had a real need for an optometrist with his concern for patient welfare, his attention to detail, and his commitment to providing top quality materials and uncompromising service. Initially opening a practice in Kirkland in 1996, Dr. Brown opened Envision Optometry in downtown Bellevue in March of 1998. With the growth of the Bellevue practice demanding his full attention, John closed his Kirkland location in 2002.

Dr. Brown’s special areas of interest include glaucoma diagnosis and treatment; difficult contact lens cases and specialty contact lenses; dry eye treatment; nutritional supplements and visual health; children’s vision, particularly the prevention of amblyopia (lazy eye) and reading difficulties; the etiology and control of myopia (nearsightedness).

In addition to his optometric career, John enjoys scuba diving, sailing, hiking, camping, skiing and bicycling. John’s son, Jake, graduated from Juanita High in 2009 and from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2013. John’s dog, Buddy, primarily just sheds hair and eats, but is nevertheless greatly appreciated.

Meet Dr. Angela LinAngela small

Dr. Lin was born in Taiwan and raised in San Marino, a city in Los Angeles County, Southern California. She moved to Seattle to complete her undergraduate education at the University of Washington with a major in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. After working for Dr. Brown as an optician for four years, Angela decided to pursue Optometry. In 2016, Dr. Lin received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.

After graduation, Angela decided to move back to Seattle to join Envision Optometry as an associated doctor. Angela’s special areas of interest include dry eye diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Lin has been a great addition to our practice. She is great with patients and really takes her time with patients to provide excellent care.

Dr. Lin is always looking for new opportunities to travel and provide vision care. She has provided vision care in El Savador, Samoa, and Mexico during medical mission trips.

In addition to her optometric career, Angela enjoys spending her free time outdoors, especially hiking and exploring in national and state parks. Angela met Kert, her fiancé, during their attendance at University of Washington. Kert also received his Masters in Education from University of Washington and is currently an elementary teacher with Mukilteo School District. The newest member of their family is their dog, President Teddy Roosevelt, Rosie for short (but that’s a whole other story…)
